The Multi Scan – More is better?
There has been a couple of new Dual Scan – Anti Virus and Internet Security Products Released – 2 of the products that come to mind are Trustport and Gdata, these are leaders in the industry. Gdata is supposed to be Kaspersky and Avast while TrustPort is Bit Defender, AVG and Vipre multi scans.
In the last year 2 products have burst onto the scene – they are both Dual Scan Anti Virus products. The have their own technology and interface. But they use already developed Anti Virus engines. Why reinvent the wheel – they thinking behind these products is that its great to scan with one engine say daily and then set second engine to scan say weekly. This is recommended if you are not running a pimped out system – if you are running a smoking system you can run both daily as well . However you want to set up as both programs allow you to toggle them and customize based on your system.
Gdata was one of the first dual scan 3rd party Anti Virus solutions to hit the North American market.
Rumour has it that it was originally a Bit Defender / Avast engine then became a Kaspersky / Avast engine, all the Geek knows is that if you have a fully loaded tower or laptop and want a full protection Anti Virus solution – then GData may be what your looking for.
Pros – Running 2 Engines – Dual Protection – Reasonably Priced $24.99 for the Anti Virus – Easy to Set Up
Cons – Little to no tech support – Large download 257 MB – Can slow older computers down.
TrustPort ranks well in the AV Comparatives – it runs Bit Defender and AVG – this program is a lot lighter than Bit Defender – as they use just the engine and have stripped out all the other bloat ware.
A compact anti virus solution which is suitable for households and small offices. Protects your desktop or laptop at all entry points against malicious codes, spam, inappropriate content, and is always prepared for current Internet threats, automatically updates both its virus database, and its functionality.
Pros – A Compact dual scan solution – Bit Defender and AVG – Affordable 24.99
Cons – Medium footprint not the lightest on the market – Supports not great in North America
